Access : Being in a strategic position, Villa Phuket allows you to reach all the island's attractions in a very short time (15 minutes to the airport and Phuket Town, 20 min. from the nightlife of Patong, 10 min. from Sirinath National Park and 25 min. from the piers for the island's tours) allowing you to stay in your private paradise.

HOUSE
If you are looking for a charming and relaxing place in one of the most exclusive areas of Phuket, Cherng Talay is your "dreamland" only five minutes from Laguna its beaches and the golf courses, and only a few steps away from the trendy restaurants and clubs. Here, inside the blooming 'Sujika Gardens', a residential complex protected by a 24 hours security service, Villa Phuket is a luxury home of 470 sqm who offers the privacy of a typical Balinese structure focusing the sight of every room in the blue heart of the house: a private swimming pool of 40 sqm. All around, banana plantations, Thai villages, rubber tree forests. And, not further than 5 minutes away, peaceful beaches far from the crowd of the bathing establishment of the south (reachable anyhow in 30 minutes drive).

ROOMS
In Villa Phuket you will enjoy the comfort and the warmth of the three bedrooms furnished in contemporary style. The wooden floors in cherry color and the pyramidal ceilings in light wood create an atmosphere of warm elegance, revived in the furnishings that the owners choose with great care mixing antique pieces with local handcrafts. The main bedroom (40 sqm) has a king size bed and a walk-in (fully equipped) of 17 sqm with wardrobe area and vanity table with large mirror for make-up. The ensuite bathroom (30 sqm) has a double Jacuzzi, shower, toilet cabin and a private Balinese garden. The Queen bedroom (25 sqm) has an ensuite bathroom (7 sqm) with bath and view over the secluded orchid garden. The Twin bedroom (25 sqm) has two twin beds and an ensuite bathroom (7 sqm) with shower cabin looking on the charming orchid garden. The tiles are handmade Thai ceramics and the furniture is in local wood and bamboo.

LIVING AREA
The heart of the living area, bright and made of natural materials (wood, marble, handmade Thai ceramics) is an open space of 90 sqm, furnished with contemporary styled furniture. The teak of the northern forests and the bamboo from the nearby islands warm the atmosphere. The walls are adorned by paintings of young local artists. The living hall has a 42 inch television screen with a home theatre. The dining area overlooks the tropical garden and is directly connected to the kitchen (20 sqm), which is provided of breakfast bar and completely equipped in western style, with double oven (one traditional and the other microwave), mixer, bread-toaster.
Dishes set in ceramic and cutlery in stainless steel for 8 people is at disposal of the house guests in addition to a kitchen completely equipped. The living area includes also a storage-room (10 sqm) with an adjacent laundry and a charming small bathroom for guests. On request it will be possible to ask for another room/bathroom for the maid. This is just a short note to explain you how does the Villa works.

SERVICES & STAFF
The staff of Villa Phuket is composed by our House Manager Khun Kita, who is in charge of your stay and needs: from car or motorbike rentals to airport transfers, from tour and excursions bookings to any other special request you could have; and our maid Khun Si, who will clean and prepare your rooms everyday (we can fix her timings as you prefer; usually she starts at 9.00 o'clock until 1.00 p.m.), and if you want, prepare your morning breakfast. There is also a maintenance manager, Khun Aom, who is in charge of the swimming pool and garden staff who works in the house twice a week (at fixed timings). As complimentary service, not only TV mega screen, home-theatre and all kind of kitchen facilities, but also a Nokia mobile phone with local number that you can use while your stay: easy to recharge and cheap for international phone calls.

CONCIERGE Our client assistance includes a concierge service during all your stay: our house manager will be available (at the phone everyday from 9 am to 10 pm) in order to give you all kind of information. On request, she will help you to organize excursions, boat trips and everything you wish to make your holiday an unforgettable experience. Also this service is included in the rent.

Thinking of your wellbeing, we provided the best room comfort, choosing healthy mattresses for a deep sleep and pure cotton sheets for a natural refreshing sensation. In every bathroom you will find an ecofriendly courtesy set: soap, shampoo and shower-gel (in glass bottles) handmade with fresh natural ingredients, such us herbs, essential oils and flowers extracts with beneficial aromas for the body and the mind. In the private Balinese garden of the main bedroom you will enjoy a hammock to relax privately - after a bath in the double Jacuzzi – and you will be surrounded by the perfume of jasmines blossoms. In the swimming pool area, you will find teak chaise longues and wrapping cotton deck-chairs for your sun bath. Last but not least, you could enjoy your favorite music everywhere in the villa, thanks to the Hi-fi stereos and Ipod deck the house is equipped with. A chill out music cd will be our welcoming present for you!

B and B
During the summer months (June, July, August), the owners live in the villa and offer bed&breakfast accomodation in the 2 guest rooms. The rooms (25 sqm) have direct access to the swimming pool and ensuite bathroom with a view of the private orchid-garden. They also have air-conditioning and roman blinds for adequate darkness to assure a comfortable rest. The rate includes breakfast with cakes, bread and croissants home made, bio jams, fresh fruit shakes and coffee also italian style (prepared with the moka). In the bathrooms, courtesy sets with bio beauty products, handicrafted with vegetable oils, spices and pure essence of plants and flowers. On request, ‘romantic dining’ at the swimming pool side with asian cuisine specialities,or traditional italian dishes.

FOOD
Thai cuisine holds a great number of good qualities: it's tasty but light, diversified, rich in fresh products and spices which are good for your health. The island is full of restaurants offering thai food, generally spicy with fresh fish, without neglecting the cuisines of all the world, starting from the italian food, following with the japanese, vietnamese, chinese, french, austrian and german. Food is loved by thai people and the average quality is superb.
In the surroundings of Villa Phuket, loved by the expats, there is the Black Cat restaurant, opened 10 years ago by a french cook married to a thai lady, who serves european and local meals of very good quality at a reasonable price. On request, they deliver at home or organise a free of charge taxi service for the clients. The same courtesy service is done in Laguna at Totò. Owned by an italian nobleman who has lived in Thailand for 27 years, the restaurant is famous for his tasty pizzas and italian pasta. Also inside the department stores you can make tasty discoveries: at Central Festival, for instance, you will find various restaurants specialised in thai, asian, japanese and western cuisine, in addition to pizza and fast-food parlours. And don't forget: you can find small restaurants with a charming atmosphere and delicious cuisine, just strolling along the beaches of the island.

BEACHES
Villa Phuket is only at 5-10 minutes from the most exclusive and pristine beaches of the island: Surin, Bang Tao, Laguna, Layan, Naithon.
Surin - The smallest but trendy, with new bathing establishment looking like the fashionable chiringuitos of Formentera in a relaxed mood and ‘naturally chic’.
Bang Tao – Eight kilometers of white sand, blue waves and coniferous plants who refresh the tropical air in a bay among the most unpolluted and charming of the island. After swimming and sun bathing you can choose between a massage or an elephant ride.
Laguna – The central part of Bang Tao is the beach attended by the clients of the five star luxurious hotels. Huge and spotless, it's bordered by small restaurants and is a starting point for diving and water sports.

Only 15 minutes from the Villa, at the Central Festival you will find the most popular shopping mall in the island, famous for its fashion shop with international and local brands. Inside the center: fashion megastore, movie multi-hall, coiffeur, beauty farm, supermarkets and local handcraft shops. In Phuket Town (20 minutes from the Villa) the Robinson Department Store is a huge store selling dress, bijoux, craftsmanship, household appliances, telephones, while in Patong the newest mall is Jungceylon, the trendiest on the island. For food and houseware the right place is Big C and Tesco Lotus, just outside the main town, only 15 minutes from the Villa. For cosmetics, the best local brand is Lemongrass House, favourite by the luxurious spa, which uses the fragrant products, handmade with natural ingredients. The biggest brand-shop is just few hundred meters from Villa Phuket. Colourful, cheap and overflowing with items of any kind, these are the local open-air markets. Don't miss the weekend market, every saturday and sunday night in the main town, opposite the Wat Naka.

The lovers of handcraft and antique can enjoy a large number of shops specialised in manufactured products (wooden, silk and bamboo) and in precious articles coming from Chiang Mai and the nearby Burma. Surin, Laguna and Phuket Town, are the best places to shop.

NIGHTLIFE

Courant électrique
Le courant est de 220 volts (50 cycles) dans tout le pays. Il existe plusieurs types de prises, mais les hôtels peuvent vous procurer des adaptateurs en cas de nécessité.

Langue
La langue thaïe, parlée ou écrite, reste hermétique pour la plupart des visiteurs. Toutefois, l'usage de l'anglais est largement répandu, particulièrement à Bangkok, Chiang Maï, Pattaya et Phuket dans les activités commerciales. Dans les hôtels, les boutiques, les restaurants, les banques, les bureaux internationaux ou les services de location de voitures, c'est encore l'anglais et quelques autres langues européennes qui restent le plus pratiqués. La signalisation routière, en thaï et en anglais, est quasiment généralisée.

Assurance voyage pour le tourisme en Thaïlande
Avant de partir au Costa Rica, il vous faut vérifier que vous avez une assurance voyage et contrôler ce qu'elle couvre. Si vous avez envie de vous laisser tenter par de fantastiques aventures, vérifiez que vous serez bien couvert dans le cas improbable d'un accident. Santé en Thaïlande
Toutes les régions touristiques et les capitales provinciales bénéficient d'un équipement hospitalier public et privé de bonne qualité. En cas d'urgence, des services mobiles acheminent les malades ou les blessés vers les hôpitaux adaptés.

Réglementation sanitaire
Aucune vaccination n'est obligatoire, sauf pour les visiteurs en provenance de zones infectées. La vaccination contre la fièvre jaune est demandée aux visiteurs arrivant des pays suivants. Il est recommandé de vérifier avant le départ s'il existe de nouvelles dispositions concernant les formalités sanitaires.

La chaleur, l'humidité, la transpiration abondante favorisent, en Thaïlande, comme dans toutes les autres régions tropicales, l'apparition de lésions cutanées : mycoses, surinfections diverses, échauffements, bourbouille. De nombreux parasites, exclusifs des zones intertropicales, sont également présents en Thaïlande : amibes, filaires, paludisme, dengue... Il faut donc prévoir, si vous décidez de venir visiter ce pays, un approvisionnement suffisant en produits dermatologiques : désinfectants, pansements, bandes... et quelques médicaments d'appoint si vous décidez de partir en forêt ou dans une zone un peu isolée.

Formalités et visas
Certains ressortissants ont besoin d'un visa de tourisme pour entrer en Thaïlande. Il est donc impératif de vérifier avec votre ambassade. Cuisine
La cuisine thaïe est une cuisine raffinée et parfumée dont la tonalité est donnée par quelques épices et herbes que l'on retrouvent dans la plupart des plats : coriandre, gingembre, citronnelle, basilic, menthe, cardamome, curry, piments et noix de coco. Elle utilise également beaucoup la sauce de poisson (nam pla) pour saler les aliments et la pâte de crevettes (Kapi) pour corser les assaisonnements. Mais la cuisine Thaïe n'est pas seulement raffinée dans son goût : c'est aussi un art de la table, avec ses magnifiques préparations sculptées dans des fruits et des légumes, pour la décoration des plats. Vêtements
Ne prévoir que des vêtements d'été en coton ou en lin, ou des lainages très légers. Evitez le nylon et les fibres synthétiques, propices à la transpiration. Les vêtements de pluie, véritablement imperméables, peuvent être utiles en saison des pluies (style poncho). Les chaussures seront préférentiellement ouvertes (style sandales). En plus, c'est plus facile à ôter pour pénétrer dans les temples ou maisons thaïes. Prévoir aussi casquettes ou chapeaux, lunettes de soleil, ... et maillot de bain! Si vous devez faire un trek en forêt dans le nord, surtout en hiver, prévoyez un pull léger, les nuits peuvent être fraîches, voire carrément froides en montagne!

Sécurité
Crée depuis 1982, la Police Touristique est présente sur tous les endroits touristiques pour aider les visiteurs et pour intervenir en cas de problème. Ses agents, signalés par un badge spécial, reçoivent les plaintes éventuelles et mènent les investigations nécessaires, en coordination avec les personnes ou services concernés.

Géographie

Située entre le 20° et 6° degré de latitude Nord et entre le 98° et 105° degré de longitude Est, la Thaïlande, sur une carte de géographie, évoque la tête d'un éléphant, avec le front butant contre la Birmanie, l'ennemi de tout temps, et la trompe descendant entre la mer Andaman à l'ouest et la mer de Chine à l'est. Ce pays s'étend sur plus de 1600 km du nord au sud et sur un maximum de 800 km d'est en ouest mais se réduit à moins de 30 km à la hauteur de la ville de Prachuap Khiri Khan. Ses 3720 km de frontière terrestre sont bordés du Cambodge et du Laos à l'est, de la Birmanie au nord et à l'ouest et de la Malaisie à l'extrême Sud. Sa façade maritime est importante avec, à l'ouest, sur 700 km environ, l'océan Indien, appelé en bordure de côte mer Andaman. A l'est, on trouve la mer de Chine avec une façade maritime de 1900 km environ.

De hautes montagnes encadrent une plaine centrale alluviale (le bassin de la Chao Praya et de ses affluents). Cette plaine est l’essentiel du domaine rizicole thaïlandais. Elle est séparée du plateau aride de Khorat, à l’est, par une chaîne montagneuse d’orientation nord-sud. Le Khorat est drainé par le Mun, qui se jette dans le Mékong, le grand fleuve marquant la frontière avec le Laos. Au sud, la région péninsulaire, jusqu’à l’isthme de Kra, présente, elle-aussi, de hauts reliefs, bordés de minces plaines côtières.

Superficie
Avec ses 513.115 km2 (légèrement plus petite que la France métropolitaine), la Thaïlande est le plus grand pays d'Asie du sud-est.

Culture

La population atteint actuellement 62 millions d'habitants et est composée à 94% de Thaïs, de Môn-Khmers et de Chinois (4%) ; elle est encore rurale à 70%. Bangkok, la première ville du pays, est peuplée de 7 millions d'habitants. C'est une mégapole totalement invivable (chaleur et pollution). On estime à 40.000 les étrangers francophones vivant en Thaïlande. Le taux de natalité est maîtrisé avec un chiffre de 1,74 %. Le taux de mortalité est de 28 pour mille naissances (chiffres de 2001). Au cours de sa longue histoire, la Thaïlande a su absorber ses immigrants sans heurts. Sa culture originelle s'est enrichie de talents divers grâce aux nouveaux venus écrivains, peintres, sculpteurs, danseurs, musiciens, architectes...

La population actuelle reflète la diversité des différentes ethnies qui la composent : Thaïs, Môns, Khmers, Laotiens, Chinois, Malais, Perses et Indiens, principalement. De ce fait, il est difficile de faire référence à un type physique en particulier. Environ 64 % de la population vivent encore à la campagne, ce qui a permis le maintien d'une culture traditionnelle particulièrement riche, surtout en matière de fêtes ou de cérémonies religieuses.

Climat

La saison sèche en Thaïlande dure de fin octobre à avril, avec une intersaison torride en avril-mai (35°C en moyenne) avant de laisser la place à la mousson. La haute saison touristique, qui est aussi la plus fraîche, est réellement marquée en décembre et janvier. Elle nécessite alors de réserver plusieurs mois à l'avance vos vols, nuits d'hôtels et le cas échéant votre guide.

Les mois de juin à octobre peuvent également se prêter à découvrir la Thaïlande mais avec un peu plus d'incertitude concernant l'ensoleillement. Pendant les mois de mousson, la température oscille entre 27°C et 34°C.

La température moyenne annuelle est de 30°C le jour. L'amplitude thermique entre le jour et la nuit est bien différente selon la topographie, en montagne, pendant la saison sèche, les températures descendent autour de 10°C. Dans la plaine centrale et la région péninsulaire du Sud, on sommeille dans la douce chaleur tropicale, la température nocturne mesure en moyenne 28°C.

Bref, la Thaïlande connaît deux saisons. Pendant la saison sèche, les températures, agréables entre novembre et mars, montent inexorablement. Elle est suivie par une mousson qui touche d'abord la côte d'Andaman entre mai et septembre avec des pluies tropicales fortes et concentrées. Le Golfe de Thaïlande est, lui, soumis à des vents violents descendus du Nord-ouest à partir d'octobre. Par contre, de mai à septembre, à l'inverse de la côte d'Andaman, il est une destination balnéaire idéale.
