 - Welcome to Oman, where the Arabian Sea radiates an undulating enchantment unlike any other. Spend the next eight days visiting the best of the sultanate, from its capital Muscat to the mysterious sands of Wahiba. Take tours of the Bait Al Zubair Museum, the Round Fort of Nizwa, as well as exciting excursions in the wadis. Discover the Bedouin culture and traditions over the surreal experience of a night in a desert camp.   • Day 1 | International flight
     
  • Day 2 | Arrival in Oman

Arrival at Muscat International airport, after visa and immigration formalities our representative will meet and escort the guests to waiting air-conditioned vehicle for transfer to hotel. Overnight in Muscat.

  • Day 3 | Muscat - Jebal Shams

After breakfast at the hotel, depart by 4x4 to the ancient fort of Nakhl, which was built in the pre-Islamic era. Emerging from huge palm groves and protected by mountains, it is perfectly positioned for defense. After a look around the fort, visit Nakhl Hot Springs then continue to Wadi Bani Auf, fringed by sand dunes on one end and massive mountain ranges on the other.
Be prepared for the adventure, crossing the Hajar mountains onwards to Al Hamra. Springing into view is the breathtaking sight of the Hajars in all their magnificent grandeur. Oman’s unspoilt beauty unfurls in a rich tapestry of craggy peaks and rockscapes threaded by wadis as far as the eye can see.
On the way, visit the old village of Al Hamra, is also noted for its extraordinary ancient mud houses. We will visit one of oldest house of Seikh “Bait Al Safa”, which has been restored and decorated and transform into a lively museum. Continue on a mountain track toward Jebal Shams, one of the highest peaks in the region also known as ‘the Mountain of the Sun’. The road, twisting and curving around the contours, rises over 2000 meters! Enroute picnic lunch… Dinner & Overnight in Jebal Shams.

  • Day 4 | Jebal Shams - Nizwa

This morning after breakfast proceed to the mountain village of Misfah, with its old buildings and fortified tower has a splendid backdrop of near vertical cliffs and talus slopes. The mystical mountain village of Misfah is also noted for its extraordinary architecture with ancient stone houses and lime trees. Continue to Nizwa, once the capital of Oman and retains its charm as an enduring reminder of traditional Oman. - Visit the 17th century round tower fort and the bustling souk known for its silver and copper handicrafts famous for its artistic crafting. Then we continue to Birkat Al Mauz, enjoy a walk through its oasis and dense date plantations, also visit the Falaj. After lunch at local restaurant we drive to Nizwa, check-in at hotel. Dinner & Overnight in Nizwa.

  • Day 5 | Nizwa - Wahiba Sands

Breakfast at the hotel. Continue your journey to Wahiba Sands via Sinaw… visit the souk of Sinaw and then continue to Ibra. Sinaw is famous for its souk, and then proceed to Ibra, is one of the oldest cities in Oman and was once a centre of trade, religion, education and art. After lunch in a local restaurant, we continue to Al Wasil where Wahiba Sands begin, and enjoy our Bedouin style camp (with toilets and showers). Our Bedouin hosts will welcome us warmly.

Go dune bashing as our experienced drivers show their skill on the dune drive which is a thrilling experience. Dinner & Overnight in Wahiba Sands. Tonight a BBQ Bedouin style is prepared for us under the stars. Overnight in Wahiba Sands.

Note 1 : During the WINTER (from 01 OCT until 30 APRIL) the overnight will be in Wahiba Sands
Note 2 : During the SUMMER (from 01 MAY until 30 SEP) the overnight will be in IBRA at Sharqiyah Sand Hotel, due to the closure of campsite during summer season.

  • Day 6 | Wahiba Sands - Sur - Ras Al Hadd

Early morning sunrise in the desert which we view from atop one of the high points in the vicinity of our campsite. The Wahiba is also home to a few thousand Beduins, who are known to have inhabited this inhospitable region for at least 7000 years. After breakfast we depart to Wadi Bani Khalid – a lush green valley surrounded by rugged mountains. Investigate the surrounding area on foot.
After lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Sur, a sea-faring town and a trading port bustling with activity throughout the year. Famed for the fascinating architecture of its old town and shipyards where traditional dhows have been built for centuries at the edge of the bay. After a quick tour of Sur, continue on the coastal road passing through high cliffs and small fishing villages – reach Ras Al Hadd for our overnight stay. At night, visit Ras Al Junayz, the unique turtle reserve with the possibility of watching the turtles laying their eggs at night. Dinner & Overnight in Ras Al Hadd

  • Day 7 | Ras Al Hadd - Wadi Shab - Muscat

Early morning enjoy the sunrise and a swim on the beach. After breakfast depart by four wheel drive for the adventure trip. Our first photo stop will be Qalhat, the oldest town in Oman. Today only remnants of the city walls remain, giving an impression of how the old town must have been, then proceed for a real fun – drive through one of the most thrilling sections of Oman's 1,700 KM coastline. Continue your journey and photo stop at TIWI and Wadi Shab (damaged by the cyclone). Stop at Fins beach and enjoy swimming, also visit the famous Sinkhole, a part of a collapsed mountain filled with sea water. Enroute box lunch, then proceed to Quriyat, a small fishing village. We drive back to Muscat. Dinner & Overnight in Muscat.

  • Day 8 | Muscat

Muscat is still surrounded by ancient city walls, which totally encircle the Sultan’s Palace. This morning we will visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. As a contemporary place of worship it serves as a spiritual landmark for modern Oman, projecting the values and aspirations of the Omani people. As an edifice, it maintains a perfect balance between aesthetics, culture and deeply rooted Islamic tradition.

Spent wandering the Corniche, visiting the fish souk and Muttrah souk (Arabian market place). This is a real souq with winding alleys and backstreets and stalls selling gold, frankincense and myrrh, jewellery, traditional Omani perfumes and antiques. Visit Bait Al Zubair museum, the museum has Oman’s finest and most comprehensive collections of antiques from all over the Sultanate. The museum also includes traditional Omani weaponry, jewellery, costumes, domestic utensils and recreated urban and rural environments. From the museum we take a walk through the old city of Muscat flanked by twin 16th century forts “Jalali” & “Mirani”. These forts were built by Philip of Spain who launched the great Armada against England after conquering Portugal in 1580. We also visit the Al Alam Palace for a photo stop, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos residence. Overnight in Muscat.

  • Day 9 | Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning free at leisure. Check-out from hotel before 12:00 (noon). 03hrs prior to schedule flight, transfer to Muscat Int’l Airport for a flight for onward or return destination.
