Country Information

  • Luxury safari in South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe

 - Discover this combined itinerary that leads to endless discoveries in two of Southern Africa’s most magnificent countries, including an unforgettable detour to one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world: Victoria Falls.

For nature lovers, Botswana takes safaris to a whole new level. You’ll begin your journey at Chobe National Park, a frequently-visited park that is popular due to its high concentration of animals. You’ll continue on to the Okavango Delta, a magnificent opening to the northwest of the country with an irresistable allure for travelers. The Okavango has often been described as “the river that never meets the sea”, given its propensity to lose itself within a vast labyrinth of lagoons, channels and islands that characetrize the delta. Few can resist the region’s magic wilderness which offers rich and diverse wildlife in a truly extraordinary environment. At the eastern tip of the delta, the “Moremi” reserve is considered to be one of the finest in all of Southern Africa.

Next, you’ll discover South Africa, an incredible mosaic of people and cultures that has earned the country its nickname of “the rainbow nation”. South Africa provides a change of scenery that you can discover at your own pace, step by step with own your rental car. The Garden Route to Cape Town will lead you through the semi-desert region of “Little Karoo”, as well as the Cape’s lush vineyards, with a diversity of changing landscapes along the way that will keep you captivated.

Don’t hesitate to contact our Southern Africa expert for more information on this combined itinerary to Botswana and South Africa!

*** Best travel season: May to mid-October (ideally June for the Botswana segment) ***

*** In Botswana, accommodations cited in this itinerary are owned by the “Desert & Delta Safaris” chain. However, accommodations may be substituted for those offered by the “Ker & Downey” or “Orient Express Safaris” chains. For those wishing to indulge a little deeper in nature’s irresistable side, you will spend 4 nights in the heart of the Delta at “Orient Express Safaris” lodges. Please note that there is a significant supplement for this option.

*** If your preference is to include more game reserves, it is possible to add safaris to your South Africa portion of the itinerary. Please see our “Images of South Africa” program.
